I visited 13 wineries in Michigan this weekend. 13! That’s the most wine I have ever drank over a weekend.

We started in southern Michigan on Saturday. The first day was lots of berry wines and some ice wine. Ice wine is made from grapes that are picked at first frost so the wine is very sweet. It’s better than any wine you have ever tasted. Unless you have tasted ice wine. We ended the day with the Wine Nazi. He lets you taste 12 different all natural berry wines but you better do the tasting his way! His wines were good but it was a very tense experience because he approaches tasting so formally.

Sunday was wine for breakfast in the pinky of Michigan! We slept in and the first thing I drank was a dry white wine which made my stomach cringe. A few wineries had only dry wines on Sunday which sucked. We went to Madonna’s dad’s winery. We didn’t know it belonged to their family until the woman there told us. Maybe that’s why they were busy. Their wine was not good. After that more wonderful ice wine and a long drive home.
I feel like I know a little bit about wine now. I can taste the difference between wine that came from an oak barrel and wine that came from a stainless steel drum. I know that grappa means “ugh it burns!” and ice wine is the most delicious thing in the world.
I bought some cherry wine to make warm spiced wine and I got chocolate shot glasses and a berry wine. Birthday wine!
And pictures!

At the end of the weekend, about 80 bottles were purchased. I only got 5 of those bottles. Some people like to drink.
