It was slow at work today so I had plenty of time to follow every repetitive story about the VA Tech shootings. The most interesting part I could not follow due to work filters on every site that is remotely fun or interesting. Many students blogged the shootings as they happened. Cell phone videos and student blogs were posted on CNN. There is a Facebook group called “I’m OK at VT”. In it’s description, it lists students they are still looking for. Is this the media revolution bloggers keep describing? Mainstream news sources getting their info from bloggers rather than bloggers rehashing and critiquing stories from major news sources. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen “OMG” in a story on CNN.

I’m not sure how tomorrow will be at work. My company does not work directly with VA Tech but does work with many people in that area. Calls today started to come in toward the afternoon. Tomorrow I expect it to be worse as lists of who survived and who did not are published on major news sources.

I’ve done crisis counseling, I know I can handle tomorrow.  It would be nice to actually help people!
