I always go and see zombie movies with a certain friend. There haven’t been any zombie movies recently, holidays are the slow time for gore. We decided to branch out and see a vampire movie, 30 Days of Night. It’s inexplicably still showing at a theater near me.
I read the IMDB reviews on the movie and was kind of concerned when I realized a 3 year old was sitting in my row. The kid did pretty well, I just heard her whisper “This is scary.” once. And someone’s head was being chopped off at the time. Fuck, I agree, little kid. This is scary. Other than the beheadings, the most interesting things about the movie was that both my friend and I accidentally spilled our drinks all over ourselves.
The vampires kind of reminded me of clowns, with their white faces and red stained mouths. Wipe your mouths, crusty blood stained vampires. Their faces were also a bit mongoloid. I like my vampires all Anne Rice hot, not vaguely deformed and retarded. IMDB gave all the vampires names even though I don’t remember their names being mentioned in the movie. It would have been more helpful if IMDB just listed “round headed vampire” or “Marilyn Manson looking vampire” in the credits.
I was amused that one character reminded me of another friend. Maybe because they both like to spout gibberish in Cajun accents.
I need a good zombie movie.

And on the topic of the undead, my cab driver was listening to some religious radio station and the guy on the radio said that the rapture is coming in 2011. He also said that god will  resurrect all the good dead people, no matter what shape your corpse is in. That’s right, he will animate your bones! That’s fucking scary. This is why I don’t like religion.

I’ve been downloading music tonight and I’m pretty impressed by Sigur Ros. The songs keep my attention and I have no idea what they’re saying. I’m big on lyrics, a song is much more memorable to me if I can sing along. But I can’t even get translations to the “Hopelandic” Sigur Ros lyrics.
