Damn The Man

I was looking some articles on Boing Boing about the ban of liquids on planes and a couple articles mentioned something I had been wondering myself. If people are trying to bring dangerous liquids on planes, why are we dumping them all together inside the airport?

The terrorist hotness seems to be blowing up mass transit areas. Planes, subway stations….airport terminals? I know blowing up an airport doesn’t have the same flair as blowing up a plane but I could see it happening. You and your Evil Doer friends stand next to each other in line and all pour your Dangerous Chemicals into the same garbage can. The can is almost filled with Coke and coffee, they will just add fuel to the fire! And since this new security measure creates longer lines, a sea of thirsty people have just been destroyed.
Am I secure now?

If you watch the news, you have seen the debate over Plan B. There has been lots of debate over why the FDA rejected it’s OTC status and if it should be an OTC drug.

Some people flip out about it on national TV. I have no idea who the woman in that video is other than some unprofessional bitch that makes Barbara Walters regret not retiring. I wouldn’t say the pro-life woman “flips out” but I do like how Barbara Walters points out that her ranting killed the discussion.

So obviously being a feminist, DINK loving, heathen bitch I am all for Plan B. Making Plan B over the counter does come with the risk that some women will use it as “plan A” instead of it’s intended use but misuse is a risk you run placing any drug OTC.

I don’t have much hope for Plan B to become OTC with the current administration. I have researched the topic before and Planned Parenthood had a web site that gave it out 24/7.
I went to the EC4U site to get a link to post and noticed the site no longer existed, it just forwarded to different EC4U page within Planned Parenthood’s site.

The rules have changed.

I don’t know if PP changed or if law changed but now you must request Plan B during PP’s business hours. You request on Saturday night? You have to wait until Monday morning for a response. Plan B is most effective when taken within 24 hours. Google is currently too cluttered with news stories for me to find the stats but the efficacy goes down considerably after that first day. And there are limitations to getting Plan B online. You would need a Planned Parenthood in your area, net connection and credit card.

If the US stopped operating at a church-state and considered the importance of timing when taking Plan B, this drug would be OTC. Instead it is like the government is saying “Here is the cure, I’m going to give you a half dose.”

BTW, emergency contraceptives are already OTC in Canada.
